Christ's Thousand year reign

When Jesus returns and destroys the armies if the beast, Antichrist and his false prophet will be captured along with Satan, Revelation 19:20 says;

And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

Antichrist, and his false prophet are the two people who will lead most of the people of earth to follow Satan, so they will be the ones to lead them into the lake of fire. Satan, however will not be thrown in yet, God has other plans. We see in chapter twenty verses 1-3;

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.

Instead of being thrown into the lake, Satan is to be locked away for one thousand years and then to be released at the end of Christ’s thousand year reign. John then sees the resurrection of the believers who were killed during the tribulation.

Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years. (Rev.20:4-6)

In Revelation 6:11 when John sees the saints who have been martyred for their faith in Jesus, they are told;
Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.
Now their wait is over, they will be resurrected and reign with Christ for a thousand years. But who are the ones seated on the thrones? This is Christ’s church, all believers in Jesus who were resurrected during the rapture. In 1 Corinthians, Paul says this in chapter 6: 2-3;

Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life!

We, all who believe in Christ before the rapture, will become judges of the world during the thousand year reign, even the angels will be below us. How much authority we will have depends on what we do now, this will be part of our reward for our work. What will it be like during the thousand year reign? Isaiah gives us the best look at this time in chapter 65 verses 20-25.

No more shall there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not fill out his days, for the young man shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner a hundred years old shall be accursed. They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat; for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands They shall not labor in vain or bear children for calamity, for they shall be the offspring of the blessed of the LORD, and their descendants with them. Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear. The wolf and the lamb shall graze together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain,” says the LORD.

All believers who survive the tribulation will follow the Lord’s original plan, be fruitful and multiply. Life will be like it was originally meant to be. Believers will live throughout the millennium. Those born during the millennium will be given one hundred years to accept Christ, after which those that don’t (sinners) will die. At the end of the thousand years, Satan will be released one final time.

And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

By the end of the millennium there will be a whole generation under one hundred years old, many of which haven’t put their faith in God. Satan will be let loose to give the undecided a choice, God or Satan. Many will follow Satan and gather in the area around Russia to attack Jerusalem. Here, they will be destroyed and Satan will be finally cast into the lake of fire forever!
