God's Gift to us

One thing that many people don't understand is that salvation is a free gift from God. Many religions and even Christian denominations teach that you must do things to earn your salvation. Some will tell you that you just have to be a good person, to do more good than bad. God is not like Santa Clause, always watching to see if you are good or bad and if your not good you don't get your gift. This is one of Satan's biggest deceptions, there is nothing you can do to earn your way to heaven, God isn't waiting with scales to measure your good and bad. Ephesians 2:4-9 says

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,  even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ, by grace you have been saved  and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,  so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.  For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,  not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
These verses say that salvation is a gift from God, from His grace, His mercy. We don't have to work for it. When you work, you earn wages, not a gift. The bible tells what our wages are, what we have earned. Romans 6; 23 says

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. The only thing that we have earned from our works is death, only through God's gift can we have eternal life. Why is this? Because heaven is perfect, only people who are perfect, only ones who haven't messed up and sinned, can be allowed into heaven. Otherwise heaven wouldn't be perfect anymore. No matter how hard you try to work to earn your way to heaven, you are going to mess up, your going to make mistakes. It doesn't matter how much good you have done, one sin can't be allowed into heaven.
Doesn't this doom everybody? It would if it weren't for God's grace. God through His love and grace has provided us a way for our sins to be forgiven, like they never happened. Jesus, since He hadn't earned death through sin, volunteered to take our penalty on himself so our debt would be paid. Since our debt has been paid, God, Jesus can forgive us our sins and make us clean of them. Colossians 2; 13-14 says

And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,  by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. Note that these verses say God has forgiven all our trespasses past and future. Note also they don't say will. God already has forgiven us.
So, what does need to be done to get to heaven? Romans 10: 9-13 says

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.  For the Scripture says, Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him.  For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.¡¨

It's right here in these verses and it's as simple as A B C.

A. Admit that you are a sinner. The first step in recovering from any problem is admitting that you have one. In order to be forgiven of your sin you must first admit that you are a sinner, that you have sin that needs to be forgiven.
B. Believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and that God raised Him from the dead. The in your heart part is the trickiest part. You have to truly believe. It¡¦s not magic words or a pass code that gets you into heaven. God knows your heart and weather you truly believe. It¡¦s my hope and prayer that these messages are helping you to truly believe in Christ Jesus and what He has done for us.
C. Confess with your mouth. Go to God in prayer and tell Him that you believe in him and that you want to be forgiven of your sin. God¡¦s gift is free, all you have to do is ask. If you need help with what to say, I have a prayer on the front page of this site you can say.
If you do this rest assured that you are saved and are going to heaven. Romans 10 Verse 13 says ¡§everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.¡¨ This means everyone, it doesn¡¦t matter what you may have done. Everyone who asks will be saved.
